Lim Cheng Yee

Lim Cheng Yee is a freelance Malaysian composer, arranger and songwriter. Born in 1988, in the quaint little town of Kluang (Johor), he received his degree in performance music from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2011.

Being a music creative at heart, he has since participated in numerous music productions which involved jingles for Television Commercials (TVC), corporate songs and MIDI sequencing. Notable works include co-producing music for two of Tourism Malaysia’s 30 seconds TV spots under the guidance and leadership of veteran Malaysian composer Dato’ Wah Idris.

In late 2011, Cheng Yee decided to return to his hometown to explore the communal aspect of music. With the support he received from the community, he composed the song Kluang Story in December 2012, for a countdown music event called Light Up Kluang (organised by Eden Community Services Center). Following that, he was commissioned by Dato’ Hou Kok Chung to compose Run in 2013.

Cheng Yee’s main instrument is the guitar. Along with music production software, he is able to realize his musical ideas in a variety of genres from contemporary to orchestral pop to electronica.
